Butter and Cheese Factory is located in the green, quiet and clean town of Kaniv. It's a picturesque place in central Ukraine, where all kinds of cheese and dairy products have been made for over 50 years. They appear in the stores under the well-known Ukrainian brand – "Kaniv 1971". Despite its high quality and affordable price, "Kaniv 1971" was unnoticeable on the shelves. The packaging of this cheese was bleak and made it discreet among other cheese brands.
So we wanted to show the Ukrainian natural origin of cheese straight on the package, as well as to call to preserve one of the largest natural reserves in the country the factory is neighbouring. That is why we decided to combine the beauty of more than 10 Red Book species from Kaniv Reserve with the naive art style of Maria Prymachenko to create a distinctive design with colourful illustrations.
