TEMA Foundation, Turkey’s leading environmental NGO, has launched an extraordinary collaboration with the Atik Family, a top global YouTube channel to raise awareness about forest fires. The project brings a striking camping experience in a burnt forest to the screen, aiming to inform and engage hundreds of thousands of viewers.
The chirping of birds, the rustling of leaves in the breeze, the faint sound of a turtle moving through the underbrush… There’s something truly magical about camping in the serene rhythm of a living forest under the cool shade of trees. But what happens when the forest falls silent, the air heavy with the smell of ash?
In response to the recent increase in forest fires across Turkey, TEMA Foundation continues its awareness initiatives. Over the past year, the number of forest fires has increased by 47%, while the area affected has grown by a staggering 77%. To support this cause, the foundation has partnered with the popular YouTube channel, the Atik Family, who share their camping experiences with a global audience of nearly 4 million followers.
Known for offering breathtaking views of natural landscapes in every video, the Atik Family takes a different path this time. They set up camp in the fire-stricken region of Aliağa, İzmir, which was damaged just this summer, and share eye-opening facts and tips about forest fires, 99% of which are caused by human negligence.
Creative direction for the project was led by Senfonico, and the video for the #BeforeTheyBurn campaign premiered on the digital platforms of both the Atik Family and TEMA Foundation. Within the first 24 hours, the video garnered over 250,000 views and more than 1,000 comments.
