In 2026, BYD Shark 6 officially arrived in Iraq through a bold and distinctive advertising campaign, executed in collaboration between BYD Iraq and Khumra Group, serving as both the advertising agency and the production company. The campaign was delivered according to the highest international standards in directing, cinematography, and visual technology.

The creative concept originated from the vision of director Muhaned Abu Khumra, who introduced an unprecedented visual metaphor to the Iraqi advertising scene: the shark fin as a symbol of power, dominance, and fluid motion. Given that Iraq is a river-based country with no natural presence of sharks, the idea was deliberately unexpected and provocative.
The challenge was clear: how to bring a shark into the streets of Baghdad—and how to organically connect it to the Shark 6.

The answer came through a cinematic treatment in which a shark fin moves confidently through Baghdad’s streets and iconic landmarks, cutting through the city as if it were water. This striking visual metaphor reflects the presence of the BYD Shark 6—strong, unconventional, and impossible to ignore. The contrast between the symbol and the environment created a powerful sense of intrigue and memorability.

Filming took place across carefully selected locations highlighting Baghdad’s key landmarks, showcasing the city’s beauty and architectural identity while seamlessly integrating the global design language of the Shark 6 into the local urban landscape. The execution combined live-action cinematic photography with advanced 3D visual effects enhanced by artificial intelligence, resulting in highly realistic and immersive imagery.

From a technical standpoint, the production utilized the ARRI Alexa 35 paired with Signature Prime cinema lenses, delivering exceptional dynamic range, color depth, and cinematic clarity. Camera movement, lighting design, and visual effects were precisely orchestrated to elevate the project beyond a conventional car commercial—presenting it instead as a cinematic experience.

With this campaign, the BYD Shark 6 launch was not merely an automotive advertisement, but a bold visual statement reflecting the evolution of Iraq’s advertising industry. Led by Khumra Group and driven by the creative vision of Muhaned Abu Khumra, the project demonstrates the ability of local production to compete on a global level while preserving Baghdad’s identity as a city of strength, motion, and modern ambition.
