Description
Every Nigerian child grows up knowing non-existent monsters by name (Ojuju, Madam Koi Koi, Ayamatanga). For generations, these figures lived exactly where they belonged: in bedtime stories, in playground whispers, in the imagination. Safely fictional. Always something a child could wake up from.
This Children's Day, 46 of them could not.
With children abducted from their classrooms and still missing as Nigeria marked Children's Day on May 27th, we refused to let the day pass in silence. The campaign draws on a painful national irony: we invented monsters to keep children close and keep them safe, and it was not enough.
This is not a political statement. It is a human one. Because childhood is not a privilege. It is a promise. And some promises are still waiting to be kept.
