Blue Moon and Sol beers present their first joint campaign. The initiative, called BEERclipse, marks the debut collaboration between two premium brands from the HEINEKEN Group’s portfolio in Brazil, featuring activations at physical points of sale, bars, restaurants, and digital platforms. This unprecedented action in the country—and in the company’s history—connects Brazilian consumers around the solar eclipse that will be visible next Sunday (21), but only in New Zealand and parts of Antarctica.
The BEERclipse campaign will also appear in a unique way at physical points of sale in the South and Southeast regions of Brazil. In these locations, units of both beers will be displayed under special lighting and rotating movement, simulating a solar eclipse and reinforcing the concept of the union between Sol and Blue Moon.
According to Rafael Donato, CCO of Ogilvy Brasil, the agency responsible for creating the campaign, the idea was born from the absence of the phenomenon in Brazil. “As soon as we learned that the eclipse would not be visible here, we thought: what if we created our own eclipse? That’s how BEERclipse came about—bringing together two beer brands, Sol and Blue Moon, to create the first ‘drinkable’ eclipse. An event just as rare and even more refreshing than the original,” he says.
The activation will also be present on digital platforms such as iFood, where Brazilian consumers will have access to exclusive promotions: when purchasing five units of Blue Moon and five of Sol, they will receive one additional unit of each; or they can pay a special price of R$ 39.90 for a pack of Sol and three Blue Moon—symbolically enjoying the solar eclipse.
In addition to physical and digital actions, the campaign will also feature out-of-home (OOH) media experiences in partner bars and restaurants in different cities across the country, expanding the activation’s reach.
For Ilana Boukai Lencastre, Marketing Manager for the super-premium labels of the HEINEKEN Group in Brazil, the action reinforces the union of two strong identities in a single narrative. “The initiative brings together the positioning of both brands in a rare and memorable beer eclipse, inviting the public to celebrate in an innovative and fun way,” she says.
The promotion starts today (15) and runs until Sunday, September 21. Participating stores can be found on the social media channels of Blue Moon and Sol.
