Airbnb is striving to provide unique and meaningful experiences for the globally young generation who often feel lonely. However, the upcoming Paris Olympics seem to be somewhat distant from this goal. In fact, due to the Évin Law introduced in France to curb alcohol culture, the consumption and import of alcohol are prohibited in all Olympic venues. However, VIPs have access to zones and services within the venues where they can freely enjoy alcohol. This contradiction has led to a sense of relative deprivation among regular spectators, particularly exacerbating feelings of loneliness among the Gen Z demographic.
Paris Olympics will feature outdoor Olympic events for the first time in history, utilizing the city center and the Seine River for sports like the marathon, triathlon, and swimming. Consequently, residents living near the venues can spectate from their homes even without tickets. And naturally, since they're staying at home, they can enjoy alcohol without being subject to the restrictions of the Évin Law.
So, we've rented out houses located near the venues along the Seine River where outdoor events are taking place. Additionally, we've partnered with alcohol brands and sponsors to set up party rooms where spectators can enjoy alcohol freely while watching the games from home. By creating true VIP areas where everyone, not just a select few, can enjoy alcohol, Airbnb is providing an experience that is equal and meaningful for all.
