Description
There are routes that lead somewhere, and routes that lead to understanding why someone else passed through there before you. This is the premise behind "A Unique Way," the new initiative from Gobik Custom Works that offers the cycling community routes linked to real stories. Each challenge stems from a different theme inspired by history, geography, or culture. There will be routes followed by historical figures, others born from iconic moments in popular culture, and routes that resonate because of what they represent.
The initiative is hosted on Strava, integrated into its challenge program. Every two months, Gobik launches a challenge with its own story behind it, and those who complete it unlock exclusive customization items, such as the challenge's digital badge, as well as being entered into prize draws for custom team kits. Challenges can be undertaken at their original destination or replicated from each team's home city, opening participation to any cyclist, regardless of where they live.
"Going for a ride isn't just about getting to know a place; it's about becoming part of it." Each person who walks a path adds a layer of meaning, and that's why some have ended up becoming history. "That's where this idea comes from," explains Víctor Izquierdo, creative director at Utopicum. "At the same time, we see how more and more communities are forming around shared challenges and objects that prove they've been completed. They're not so much valuable for what they are as for what owning them represents. Completing something becomes a way of belonging."
Content, challenge, and experience
This isn't just a seasonal campaign; it's a content platform designed to last and grow over time. This approach connects three increasingly common behaviors in the relationship between brands and communities: participating, collecting, and sharing. Each challenge begins with a story and ends with an object that proves it was experienced. The project's landing page will incorporate new routes as they become available, building a collection that grows alongside those who participate.
The launch is accompanied by an audiovisual piece produced by Montaña and filmed in a single take: a flock of starlings moving as one, without any direction, while a voiceover explores what happens when several people decide to move forward together.
The campaign is part of Gobik Custom Works, the customization division of the Murcia-based brand, which has been developing bespoke kits for clubs, groups, and teams for over a decade.
Five countries in a single ride
The first challenge is now available. Passport Checkers proposes crossing five countries on a single route: Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Germany. The route starts at Lake Resia, from the submerged bell tower of Graun, climbs to the Reschenpass, and links Alpine borders before finishing in Lindau, on the shores of Lake Constance. 230 kilometers, 2,000 meters of elevation gain, and four border crossings.
The challenge will be active until October 6th. After that, a new challenge will be revealed every two months. Gobik is keeping the schedule under wraps: each route is announced when it goes live.
