Through telling the story of a birdwatcher and his excitement about it, Nikon wanted to communicate how Nikon’s new MONARCH binoculars actually bring more joy to outdoor activity in general. On a higher level Nikon wanted every viewer to discover the world of birding as it is much more than just watching birds. Roel Boorsma, the director from Smarthouse Commercials, captured it all: The intimate, sophisticated, down-to-earth passion for nature and freedom. The film was shot in the Julian Alps in Slovenia, a mainly unknown and untouched piece of heaven in Europe. Boorsma travelled through the outskirts of the Italian and Austrian Alps alongside British birdwatcher Steve Waite.
