Description
The loudest debate in music right now is about its worth: streaming payouts, licensing fees, ticket prices, AI royalties. Save The Music redirects that conversation to expose a number most people don't know: the U.S. government spends just $1 per student per year on music education. The same culture that generates billions from the Eras Tour and sells out stadiums worldwide invests almost nothing in the next generation of musicians.
To make that $1 feel real, the campaign launches The $1 Concert, a live series featuring ally artists with tickets priced at exactly $1. Artists share what music education meant to them, and QR codes on screen invite the crowd to donate what they think music is actually worth. The campaign then extends into Giving Tuesday with a Tiny Desk session featuring Ed Sheeran and the National Children's Chorus to live-record a holiday single, which is then pressed into a limited-edition vinyl and shared as a pre-release Truth Report for journalists and policymakers. The $1 holiday single is then released digitally on iTunes, challenging fans to get it into the Billboard Top 10 by tagging politicians on TikTok and Instagram.
By meeting music where it already lives, on Spotify, YouTube, concerts, and social feeds, "What Is Mu$1c Worth?" transforms everyday consumption into a question of conscience. It doesn't ask fans to care about music education. It reminds them they already do and asks them to prove it.
