Description
The WNBA celebrates its 30th anniversary with “There’s More Where Thirty Came From,” a campaign featuring four-time WNBA champion and three-time MVP Sheryl Swoopes. Creatively led by Lucky Generals, the latest film, “Confetti,” is directed by Jess Kohl and follows Swoopes working on a production line filled with different colors of confetti.
Serving as narrator, Swoopes reflects on the very different emotions that confetti can represent for WNBA players. It can signal the joy of winning a championship, but also the heartbreak of falling short, turning the familiar celebration into a symbol of the league’s highs, lows and history.
The 30-second film highlights dramatic moments from the WNBA’s three decades, showing how teams can fall from success before returning to victory. The confetti becomes more than a celebration: it marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, whether that means redemption for a defeated team or the start of a dynasty for the champions.
Released ahead of the WNBA Playoffs presented by Google Pixel, the film invites audiences to view each game and defining moment as part of the league’s ongoing history. It follows the anniversary campaign’s earlier “Raise Goats” film, which also featured Swoopes and used baby goats to represent the next generation of WNBA stars.
