Women for Change

The Unburied Casket

Agency: Edelman

Description

To protest South Africa’s rising femicide crisis, we created a casket that couldn’t be ignored. It was 33.8 percent larger than a standard coffin, reflecting the same percentage rise in femicide. Adorned with 5,578 handwoven Zulu beads, each bead representing a woman murdered last year. Carried through Pretoria and placed at the gates of power, The Unburied Casket turned national grief into public action.

This professional campaign titled 'The Unburied Casket' was published in South Africa and United Arab Emirates in May, 2025. It was created for the brand: Women for Change, by ad agency: Edelman.
