As part of April Fools’ Day, Pizza Hut Ecuador took humor, creativity, and its close connection with the community to the next level through an unexpected activation that turned imagination into the main character: Pizza de Themu.

It all started with a simple yet provocative question posted on social media:
What’s the craziest pizza you would actually eat?
The brand invited its community to comment with the most unexpected ingredient combinations, without rules or limits, promising to bring those user-created pizzas to life.

The response was immediate. Dozens of comments flooded social media with combinations as creative as they were improbable, proving that when it comes to personal taste, there are no wrong choices. From this conversation, Pizza Hut randomly selected the winners.

On pickup day, the winners arrived at the restaurants expecting to find their imagined pizza made real. However, staying true to the spirit of April Fools’ Day, Pizza Hut added an unexpected twist: instead of a physical pizza, participants received a paper-printed pizza, designed based on the ingredients they had imagined.

That’s how Pizza de Themu was born—a visual prank that sparked surprise, laughter, and spontaneous reactions at the point of sale. The prints, the behind-the-scenes preparation, and, most importantly, the genuine reactions of participants were captured in a recap video that quickly became highly shareable organic content.

The activation not only celebrated humor and the date itself, but also reinforced one of the brand’s core values: pizza as a space for enjoyment, creativity, and connection with people. Without explicit promotions or commercial messaging, Pizza Hut chose an experience that put the community at the center and turned a simple prank into a memorable story.

Pizza de Themu proves that the simplest ideas—when executed with cultural timing, closeness, and a sense of humor—can generate real impact, conversation, and brand affinity.
