The Spider-Man 2 Spectacular Save

PlayStation was set to launch the most anticipated game of the current PS5 console - Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Already slated as a blockbuster title before launch, they needed a blockbuster idea to get into the feeds of their gamer audience.

In response, Akcelo created “The Spectacular Save” - a six-meter truck suspended in mid-air by the webs of not one, but two Spider-Man characters while NPC actors stood guard, bringing the in-game world to the streets of Sydney’s CBD.

The stunt was spread on social media by a team of gamer influencers and content creators, who had early access to capture footage and post it online before anyone else. As word of the activation spread online, members of the public flocked to the scene, generating even more content of the truck.

The stunt quickly gained momentum online with the truck going viral around the world and the NPC acting capturing attention on TikTok and Reddit while video-game publications created dozens of articles about the event.
