Google and the Pelé Brand, managed by NR Sports, launched a new mini-documentary, ‘The Most Beautiful Goal Never Seen,’ that details how Google DeepMind reconstructed Pelé’s legendary 1959 "Gol da Rua Javari"—his self-proclaimed most beautiful goal that was never actually captured on film.
In deep collaboration with Pelé's family, historians, and eyewitnesses, Google DeepMind used advanced AI models like Veo 3 and Gemini Omni to transform decades-old memories and historical fragments into moving imagery. The mini-doc, which is about preserving Pelé's legacy, will head to the Pelé Museum later this year.

To get it right, we used Performance Control to blend motion performance with historical and cultural archives from Pelé’s era, and worked with some of today’s best footballers as stunt players to further condition the models. These steps ensured the video felt true to life. This project reflects our long-standing approach: give artists the best generative tools to expand their craft and tell entirely new stories”
