ESB and Publicis Dublin launch new brand platform — ‘For future us’ — with an animated film that tells the story of 12-year-old Grace and her unlikely solar-powered friend.
The film centers on the story of Grace who like many young people feels her environmental concerns are being overlooked. All this changes when she meets Sol, an innocent solar panel. As they journey together through the beautiful Irish landscape, Grace teaches Sol about his place in the world — and discovers that there are others just like her out there, people who are actively working towards a more sustainable Ireland.
The film was brought to life by Dublin-based animation studio Piranha Bar in collaboration with Director Rick Thiele. Central to the production was the studio’s cutting-edge painterly texturing system, which blended hand-painted strokes with procedurally generated surfaces, grasses, pollen, and butterflies to seamlessly harmonise characters and props with their handcrafted world.
