"Pets Pay Off": A Campaign That Benefits All
Today's society faces growing health challenges such as obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure, often stemming from insufficient physical activity. Simultaneously, animal shelters are overflowing with unwanted dogs. To address both pressing issues, we launched the "Pets Pay Off" campaign, built around a unique Mastercard and BNP Paribas Bank payment card designed for pet owners. Our goal was to convince people that having a dog literally pays off. By highlighting the card's financial discounts, we demonstrated how the daily commitment of walking a dog transforms into a life-saving health routine, proving that rescuing an animal can save both your budget and your own health.
"Pets Pay Off" effectively made this case by strategically linking two previously unconnected calendar dates: International Homeless Animal Day on April 4th, followed just three days later by World Health Day on April 7th. The campaign strongly argued – supported by peer-reviewed research – that a daily dog walk stands as one of the most comprehensive wellbeing practices available. It moves the body, calms the mind, fosters social connections, and restores contact with nature, all simultaneously and all for free.
To further solidify its message, a companion guide compiled the scientific evidence into a credible public health resource. Campaign executions depicted the unglamorous, yet relatable, reality of dog ownership – animals digging, chasing pigeons, or even urinating on walls – with each scene anchored by a published health statistic. The core message was clear: every walk counts, even the ones you'd rather skip. Crucially, the Pet Owner Card ensured the campaign moved beyond mere awareness, driving tangible action and adoption.
