Description

In Latin America, despite notable improvements in various health areas, the gap in access to medical treatments or services between men and women is still an everyday issue. According to the World Health Organization, this gap is particularly evident in breast cancer, making it challenging for women to obtain early diagnosis and treatment for this disease.

We wanted to make that gap tangible! We used the scar from a mastectomy as a graphic and visually powerful representation that illustrates the unfortunate consequence of many women's difficulty in accessing preventive exams.

We designed a series of four graphics where we showed these scars transformed into the gap that, regardless of its size, is a reality in Latin American societies. These graphics were initially created for Costa Rica, but their impact within Roche led to them being replicated in countries such as Chile, Ecuador, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, and even globally.
