Kashmir is known as “The Paradise on Earth” due to its breathtaking pristine. The region is blessed with lush green valleys, snow-capped mountains, beautiful lakes and picturesque landscapes, dense forests, green meadow, gushing rivers that evoke a sense of paradise.
Kashmir has everything artists and artisans need for inspiration. It is no surprise that Kashmir is world renowned for its crafts; especially its pashmina shawls, Kani shawl weaving and Sozni embroidery.
Traditional Kashmiri houses, known as "dewangrums", are multi-storied structures built with wood and mud brick. They often feature overhanging balconies and ornately carved doorways, reflecting the artistic sensibilities of the Kashmiri people.
The Arts of Kashmir comprises works of Buddhist, Hindu, and Islamic art, including sculpture, painting, and calligraphy loaned from collections in the U.S., Europe, and India. Many of the objects have never been seen outside of India; in some cases they have never been exhibited or published anywhere.
