In 2026, Portugal faced the worst winter on record. A succession of storms swept across the country from north to south, leaving a trail of destruction. The number of sunless, dark and rainy days was unusually high, something the Portuguese are not used to, considering the country is especially known for its good weather, with an average of 250 days of sunshine per year.
From January to February 2026, it rained for 50 consecutive days, an exceptionally long period of precipitation for Portugal. This atypical winter did not only affect the weather. It also impacted people’s mental health, mood, and overall well-being.

CIN, the Portuguese coatings and paint brand specialised in transforming people’s lives through colour, decided to launch an outdoor campaign while the rainy weather continued to dominate the days. We placed colourful, vibrant billboards across the country, accompanied by a simple and hopeful message: “Colourful days will come.” A small reminder that even in the greyest moments, colour and optimism are always close at hand.
