Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission is a non-profit that serves the homeless population of the city. As Seattle emerged from COVID-19, restrictions shifted its annual fundraising event, Catalyst, from a traditional event setting to a digital one. To create an engaging virtual experience that was immersive, interactive, and educational, The Thomas Collective worked with the Mission to create an online experience through video. Using emerging technologies, the ‘Choose Your Own Path’ style video was developed to help demonstrate to Mission donors how the Mission can usher a person towards redemption and out of homelessness. The experience unfurled in the first-person perspective on guests’ screens, allowing them to see the world directly through the narrator’s eyes. As they walked through the story, they were prompted to decide how to navigate their life and choices as the narrator, leading them on a unique path out of homelessness, leaving guests feeling hopeful, inspired, and willing to give.
