Description
Cal Raleigh made baseball history last year, hitting 60 home runs while carrying the most…descriptive… nickname in the sport. Now, the Seattle Mariners’ "Big Dumper" is starring in an ad campaign that leans all the way into the colorful moniker .
Honey Bucket, which provides portable toilets and other site services for construction and special events, has partnered with hometown Seattle independent agency Copacino Fujikado on a new campaign featuring Raleigh, ahead of MLB Opening Day.
The campaign includes 9 videos and hundreds of still images across a construction jobsite and a backyard party, with moments like Raleigh entering a unit to his own walk-up music, an umpire making the call after he exits, and the catcher stamping products "Big Dumper Approved."
All 9 spots will be posted on Honey Bucket’s YouTube channel. Cal will also be announcing and promoting the campaign on his own social channels, encouraging fans to watch and pick their favorites. The spots that generate the most buzz will be considered for broadcast TV.
"Cal Raleigh had one of the most remarkable seasons in baseball history, and Mariners fans have a special relationship with him and this team after they won their division for the first time in almost 25 years,” said Scott Foreman, CEO of Copacino Fujikado. “We wanted to have some fun by paying tribute to a local icon - Big Dumper - while showcasing the quality and range of products offered by Honey Bucket, another Seattle treasure.”
“This is a perfect partnership between Honey Bucket and Big Dumper,” said Tom Ramsay, Marketing Director of Honey Bucket. “And when we needed assistance in bringing Cal’s down-to-earth personality and sense of humor with our lively brand and core values, Copacino Fujikado was the obvious choice. We’re very proud of what they created and can’t wait to show it off.”
The campaign was shot by Ron Gross of Distillery Film, the longtime director behind the agency's iconic Mariners work, alongside photographer Carson Artac.
Honey Bucket came to Copacino Fujikado based on the agency's decades-long legacy of beloved Mariners player campaigns, work so culturally resonant that a DVD compilation was once offered as a stadium giveaway, prompting fans to line up around the block. The agency is the only Seattle shop to win four AdAge Small Agency of the Year awards in the last decade. Now, Copacino Fujikado is bringing that same creative DNA to a campaign that extends beyond the screen with Cal promoting the campaign and engaging with his fans.
Assets began airing on Opening Day across social, digital, and local broadcasts.
