Adaptive Crosswalk

School: Syracuse University

Description

“its a crosswalk, not a sprint.”
Problem: Crosswalk timers are fixed and have poor visibility. Those with mobility
issues and low vision often don't have enough time to cross, creating safety risks
and anxiety.
Audience: Those with Low Vision or Mobility Issues
Solution: Make pedestrians seen in crosswalks so crossing time can be adjusted
based on their needs.
Brand: Sony
Execution Idea: Product, Mobile App, Google Maps Plug-in
We make a 3D map to find people with sight or mobility aids who may need extra time crossing using LIDAR Sensors.
AI Technology takes past video footage and adjusts crossing time before you cross and again as you cross if it looks like you need more time.
LED lights and speakers tell you if it is safe to cross or if there is a red light/emergency vehicle approaching.
On our mobile app you request more time and get the same audio cues from our speaker on your phone.
You can have Google Maps direct you to adaptive crosswalks.
