Revolution vs the Algorithm

Agency: Bombay

Description

The Creative Agency Bombay, in collaboration with UNESCO and RacismoMX, created the documentary "Revolution vs the Algorithm", a multimedia experience that aims to question the racial bias in internet search results, platforms, and digital services. This initiative, created by the agency Bombay, was documented during the Second Global Forum of UNESCO against Racism and Discrimination, held at the Centro Cultural Los Pinos in November 2022.

The 9-minute documentary narrates the experience of various public figures, academics, and experts from different sectors in an installation where they dictated concepts to the most used image search engine in the world, such as "Happy man", "Beautiful woman", "Successful woman", and "Poverty", among others, to reflect on the racial bias shown in the results. Among the participants were actor Tenoch Huerta, UNESCO's Deputy Director for Social and Human Sciences Gabriela Ramos, actress Maya Zapata, Ford Foundation Director Darren Walker, Senator Celeste Sánchez, rapper Jere Caelum, Jordan Giger (Black Lives Matter), among others.

This professional campaign titled 'Revolution vs the Algorithm' was published in Mexico in March, 2023. It was created for the brands: RACISMOMX and UNESCO, by ad agency: Bombay.
