I think the point is that before BlueRay, this character looked like a cartoon.
i think it's too subtle.

Spot on! This is how I feel when I'm watching a BR movie and it feels too real. To me, it's a negative, but nonetheless, it's a truth. I like how they used it here.
An idea taken from these http://www.boredpanda.com/untooned-cartoon-characters/
Good.

C'est une question de vie ou de mort.
i wonder if people out there get it without a copy a tiny line saying 'more details'. i guess not
The thing is, crisp image resolution does not make a rubbery, bulbous cartoon character look like a real person. It's a metaphor, I get that, but I think it's a pretty lame one.
That's it.
It's more like a metaphor, I think it's interesting.
This is totally cool, keep thinking that maybe should have done early "first gen" CGI in movie like....The Mask...but that's just me... regardless...i like this....good work
I love this idea - the reason why ppl get into blue-ray is just this! Those who are into this definitely know about it. "You can see the pores", it's hilarious
This sort of “see more detail” concept has been done before for similar products. I remember seeing one that showed different scenes from movies but with small details highlighted ie - food in Rocky’s teeth.
