The man who stops advertising to save money is like the man who stops the clock to save time

Guest's picture

Done! Done! Done! Yeah, yeah...everything has been done before.
In this over-communicated world it is almost impossible to truly be original. It's almost guaranteed that someone, somewhere, at some point in time has done your precious little idea too Tricky.

Guest
TRICKY's picture

so what you are saying is that it is the end of creativity? that everything has been done ? that there's no more room for new ideas? nope sireee i cant believe that its true. i once read : The Greatest danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short but in setting it too low and achieving our goal.

I'm just saying that I bet that almost all of your ideas that you've came up with have probably been done before too.

We could search for an image and post it up to prove that too. The more and more concepts are done (since the dawn of this profession) it stands to reason that there is almost no way to be truly original.

Let it go man and don't worry so much...and don't try to play "gotcha" on other art directors. AS if we can do the proper due diligence in research to double-check and see if this concept was done in 1982 by DDB in Argentina...for example.

i am not trying to prove anything neither playing gotcha sort of thing .. when i first saw your "orgasmic ad" it remind me of the Rav4 ad which i kept coz i liked it ... apparently you are taking it personally... orgasm=rollercoaster shmollercoaster whatever ...
and if your client is paying your agency to come up with "me too ads" then let it be...but pulheeeez too many credential for a "me too idea"

if you want too i can remove my comment so that your ad appears to be an original idea i dont mind just say please remove comment .....

With the right time and resources I'll bet we could fairly easily find an ad from somewhere in the world and from some time ago that resembles this concept. Get over yourself if you think everything you do is original. Sorry to put a dent in your ego.

easy, all you have to do is: subscribe to adsoftheworld " research" and you'll surely dig something out ;)

I like it, but there's something about it that feels a little underplayed somehow, almost like the uncredited illustrator (and whatever feedback he got from the agency) had to confine things so much that the "trick" of writing the word trumped the message. If he'd taken a more radical point of view -- say, we're in the roller coaster car and the oncoming track spelled the word in forced perspective, it would have stated things a lot more strongly.

wow.
you really think your opinions matter.
that's funny.

go back to your rudimentary illustration and design work and leave the commenting for people who have something worthwhile to say.

Do you actually work in advertising SeanMartin? I just find it hard to believe that you can spend so much time posting comments on this website and actually be a full time employee.

Guest
Guest's picture

Aaaah hahaha...that's exactly what I've been saying forever.
Check out his website and you'll see that he doesn't work in advertising. His work is very basic, elementary design and illustration. He has nothing to show for to be able to boast his opinions so much.

Truly, I love the way people obsess about what I write, as though it really matters. It's fascinating.

up close the AD sucks. There ara parts in that roller coaster where the cart cant even pass in between the structure. Its a poor observation but in terms of AD its too amateur.

Excellent concept, although I believe that it does fall short in the illustration and art direction part of it. But I can guess what might have happened. Lack of time and lack of budget could be a couple of any number of factors. This business has so many pitfalls. It caught my attention, made a point and was very relevant to the product benefit. Good job!!

Guest

well, the fireworks/rollercoaster concept isn't new, but it works. it would have looked nice, if it was worked properly. I guess you didn't have enough time. Overall, it's good, but not great.

Guest

hmmm... I remember this show on TV where a guy in the amusement park business said that each roller coaster ride is designed to be unique. maybe that is what they tried to use here. The copy seems to indicate that. Then maybe they also are saying ( kinda obviously ) that the sex is gonna be wild like a roller coaster ride. I can think of one more interpretation but I guess it is not important. So multiple messages coming out of this one. And what is this vibrating ring condom anyways?
