We all work on identical briefs all the time, that is no excuse. And the fact is that the original print won an award, and creatives follow advertising festivals. So, maybe they had the same idea, but it's more probable that they copied it on purpose. The question is why creatives do this? Is it because they don't have award winning ideas, but they are hungry for awards none the less? And do they really think that no one will notice that they stole the idea? Personaly, I'm greatfull for joe la pompe and what he does, and hopefully he will discourage this kind of shameless stealing of ideas in the future. Let's hope at least New Moment learn their lesson.
That I like.. Just wished, the color squares would be smaller... I should recognize Monalisa, Marilyn Monroe and Van Gogh, even without the caption...

Nobody noticed that it's been done the very same way (with Mona lisa) by Dulux Paints in Germany (2005) ?
I had a feeling this idea must have been done before but couldn't find anything here in aotw. Any link is appreciated.

one should not take life so seriously - as one will not come out of it alive.

Generic design...very old idea...but hey, if it works for the client, it's fine...after all we're not here to be creative or anything, we just want stuff to sell, right?!

How can u be so sure that they copied Ö) the thing is that the idea as it is , its very logical and maybe not so creative for both solutions. Choosing Mona Lisa is obvious in both cases.
And provably the question why is this happening in advertising is more appropriate. It is because we all work on briefs that in some cases are identical.

Guest, guest, aaaaaaaah....i like guests with strong tongues :))))

creatives who follows advertising festivals are writing comments like this, others dont care so much about similarities and they work . some of them wins some of them loose. Its still better than writing stupid comments without checking how many times people made mona lisa out of something. Check it on google , just write mona lisa pixel on images and u will see , its not only festivals that measure creativity.
And that one about the brief , its a write comment. I ask my self every day about working on stupid briefs which are same in the entire world... but thats philosophy, globalization, etc...

"others don't care about similarities and they work"? You can't work in this business without following what's happening in it and what other creatives are doing and have done, not in order to copycat it, but the exact oposite. That's the nature of the business. And you're right, before submiting a print like this, check it out on google, just write Mona Lisa pixel on images, and when you see the results, maybe you'll think twice before submiting your print and realize that your idea may not be that original .
And as far as the brief is concerned, this is probably a scam ad anyway, so there probably was no client brief. maybe I'm wrong, but then again, something tells me that I'm not...

my point was that Idea is not original in both prints, and its not my print by the way. The point of chooseing mona lisa in both cases is bad, in this one but as welll in the other one, and the award does not mean anything cause Pixeling mona lisa is what artist are doing since 70s. Again, if u have a task to communicate colors its not very hard to go into this direction into both cases. Its because the brief in advertising is the same within years.our color are art, our print is art, whatever stupid way of communication myte be..
maybe we should change the brief first and than to try to make a solution.
But believe me if u work in this business and if u follow others work, u will not go far.
as far for the checking I agree.

Yo Joel, not the first Ö))))) check it out on google, u can write mona lisa pixel on images and u will see Ö))))
