I don't think someone who hasn't taken the course yet would really appreciate this joke. Seems aimed at people already in the industry.

Agree. I guess it could be suited for a slightly more educated/experienced audience, which can certainly be a good thing.

Comic Sans hate is out there. It's mainstream. They'll get it.

I just asked our interns. They had no opinion on comic sans before they were in ad school. I stand by my original point. I don't picture high school students reading an obscure blog that makes fun of comic sans. Getting a joke and finding it funny are two different things.

The logic works regardless if you have an opinion on comic sans beforehand. Its just funnier if you hate comic sans.

Agreed. It's funnier to people already in the industry.

I won't say you need to get out more, but your interns definitely do. It's a phenom that's been covered by all major media. BBC, WSJ, McSweeney's, CNET, Huffington Post, MSNBC, gizmodo, The New Republic, lifehacker, ABC news and on and on over the last 5 years.

this was a commercial played during adult swim on cartoon network. i think comic sans is a pretty universally hated font.

Hilarious. That's exactly what I thought when I saw Avatar. --Blow a billion dollars on a film, but use a font from the Microsoft Office suite for your logo.

The only way they don't get this is if they don't know Comic Sans is a font.

Its much funnier if they know how much people hate Comic Sans.

Either way it works for an audience that has interest in design.

Well I didn't get the joke and I am not in the industry so I guess that proves your points, only the people studying inside the industry can see the meaning for this ad. I think they could have done it better especially because we're talking about an education domain.
