Mindhunter: i do not necessarily think this are that bad, with good placement probably in a magazine i think they basically show smoothness and you get it straight up by looking at it. i just think the line evens out is being taken to literal here and it clicks flat when you looks at the visual. but then again iam not a woman i thought it was selling smooth..

Male creative team? Yeah, thought so. This is how not to create a cosmetics ad. When makeup brands talk about "evening out your skin" they refer to the skin colour, certainly not its physical contours. This kind of visual pun falls FLAT.
if the sand was more prominent the idea would have been conveyed.
I think its a great idea... just needed a better, more convincing execution.
