It's not an infinity sign at all, it's a 8, as slowrider says. I think it's great, because they took the icon that represent the most the athlete and his cause.

I have seen the idea of twisting the wristband to be infinity sign since 2006 or 2007 in the Wallpaper Magazine, Thailand under subject long live the King.
For Armstrong, he's an inspiration.
