In this ad, there is a drawing of a classic 1950s car with a huge bite taken out of it. To the right of the image, there is a caption that says, “Eat the 50s. Ed’s. Easy Diner”. In my opinion, this is a clever ad because of the image on the print ad. This is a very self-explanatory ad that does not require a lot of thought to understand. The average person would know that when you go to Ed’s Diner, you would be served food that resembles food served in the 1950s. The advertiser used this particular car because people who were alive during the 50s will recognize the type of car and possibly be inclined to eat there or at least grab their attention, which could lead the viewer to eat there in the future. Hopefully people will trust the ad and want to eat at a place that served authentic classic food.

I don't think people who were alive during the 50s are the target group.
It's clear that at Ed's you will find an old style kitchen, but the crashed car and spilled oil are unlikely to raise tasty associations.
