I am not sure what to exactly think of this advertisement. First, I see the Sanrio brand is being very kid friendly. However, this advertisement is everything but. The Hello Kitty as a skeleton? As an adult I understand it/the concept but the child looking at this would not—it could possibly defer the child from wanting to own anything Sanrio. Second, I do like the idea behind this campaign—the promotion that Duracell goes on for ever and beyond. I just think the imaging could have been different and not have such a negative connotation. Sanrio is positive, kid friendly and happy. Hello Kitty does not represent that in this advertisement. Besides the actual image of Hello Kitty what I really like is the simplicity of this advertisement. It is clean and easy to grasp the concept. I think Duracell is on the right track and they can still work with Sanrio but make it more of a positive kid-friendly concept.
