Haha... Very nice, but politically incorrect. I doubt that the client has approved that. But it´s DDB Brazil. They know how no other how to make scams! And, at least, their scams are good..

politically incorrect??? are u on a site for animal protection or for advertising? Put some normal comments which are related to the nature of the business . Scams are some times like concept cars and they lead the industry somewhere. Nobody will put the hippo inside of the owen , we all now that so why the fuss of being correct? Lets not put superman in ads cause some one will jump from the building. huh?

Granted, you would never want yourself or anyone else for that matter to put a limitation to imagination or ideas, but should we show junior artists, copywriters, and art directors that it's fine to pitch even the wildest and most inappropriate ideas? Personally, the only thing this ad has going for it is the illustration and that the hyperbole gets the product's USP across.

Aside from that, the type and layout does not seem to have much going for it and as many pointed out, I don't ever imagine seeing this getting the OK from the client. However, this piece may be fine for a student book. I will not deny that the ad succeeds in attention getting purposes, but that's about it.

I wonder what the third ad would be, a British Giant Rabbit or maybe a Giant Galapagos Tortoise?!

p.syche's picture

it's too bad you commented as a "Guest" because you will probably never return to this site...
anyway - it's politically incorrect because you're not supposed to eat such animals as hippos, but you're supposed to protect them in national parks in Africa.

why do we never hear your voice when there are racist ads here? but for this funny impossible to achieve campaign you come out full whine?

are animals more important than people to you?

you should think about that question.

Guest

Why people should be more important?

Maybe YOU should think about that.

I think it's highly inappropriate that you have such a prejudice view on which animals should or shouldn't be eaten. Isn't all animal life, and life force equal in the universe. Isn't being alive to one the same as being alive to another. But you suggest we keep them in fenced in facilities. I say let them run free let all animals have the equal right to be eaten and oven roasted with a nice glazing.

and besides who cares it's an ad. The absurdity is the joke. learn to laugh

Guest
p.syche's picture

again - it's really hard to argue with a "Guest". it's like arguing with a ghost...
so - Guest number 1 - the one saying I don't care about people and racism: it's really my choice to which ads I react. I react generally when I feel like it. it's not like not reacting to a racist ad is racism.
Guest number 2 - i agree, to some extent.
Guest number 3 - i am not a vegetarian, nor a vegan. it sounds like you're one, and good for you. but your views are not universal. as to running free - in animal reserves in countries like Congo they do run free. if you want a popcultural reference watch Madagascar 2. third, and MOST IMPORTANT, I know how to laugh.

now, all of you - learn to sign your name when you comment. anonymity is NOT an answer.

So the Woody Woodpecker is the #1 anemy of Greenpeace.

Oh, c'mon, guys this "politically correct" shit is a pain in the ass. It is a illustration, a caricature of animals. It is impossible to put a huge animal in the oven, even if someone wanted to do it. The future is doomed with this neo-hype-hippies...

i like the idea. it utilizes 100% of the poster format and it catches your eye like glue.

the only problem i have with this sort of "cannes"-ads is that you hide the product or logo in order to make the whole thing a picture puzzle we creative folks like so much.

many say thats ok since there's the allmighty aha-experience for the customer to find, but if someone is driving by such a poster or doesnt have the time to look closer the whole thing is vain.

I don't know why some people don’t want to hear other people opinion. We all have different view and let us not make a mockery of anyone. Thank you. As for the ad it works for me. I love it.
