I don't really get the art but the copy is nice.
At first I thought it was too long, after the first few lines I was tempted to give up and skip to the end, but the more I read, the more I wanted to read. I still think it could do with being a touch shorted though. I'm a massive advocate of long copy but I think something like this, which is very same-y all the way down, would lose a few readers before the end.

All in all it's a great ad though. Good to see something decent from the UK on here.
My only other criticism is that some parts are a little hard to read... but then it's not meant to be viewed on a screen.

I can imagine this working incredibly well as a TV ad/video. A voice over with the proper emotion and gritty footage of this boy growing up.

Huge on long copy as well. You're dead-on with your comments. I also don't think the art direction is helping this piece out much, either.
