This advertisement did a good job in grabbing my initial attention, but struggled to maintain it throughout. The opening shots are very visual and caused me to want to continue watching to see what product was being promoted. However, once the Volvo was shown in a couple of shots, I began to lose interest. Once the car was revealed, the ad continued on for another two minutes at least. In my opinion this was too long, as the clips of the Volvo began to intermix with the scenery shots. As a viewer at home, I'm switching the channel by the two minute mark rather than waiting out the last two minutes of similar visually appealing shots of scenery and the Volvo. I understand the approach because the slogan is "made by Sweden", which is why there are so many video shots of the Swedish landscape. This was a great idea for an ad, but I think it would be more effective if it was shortened down to somewhere between one to two minutes.
