Geez one day and already an ad based on this. I suppose they where already working on this but bravo ;p
Already working on an ad for a one in however-many-tens-of-billions chance that NASA would announce this discovery?
I wonder how they're doing on that ad announcing my winning the El Gordo jackpot?

I can't question that last part, but what I meant is that they where probably already working on the Purell client - and than this news came up.
No doubt, unless they've got the fastest new business team in the universe.
you guys are priceless. :-)
Jack Mancer - when he said he was going to collect pencils, they thought he meant One show awards. He didn't.

Impressive, quick-thinking and excellent execution.
not impressed. not at all. i don't care about the space or so ever, my kitchen is dirty.
that matters. i hope the target group are not women between 25 and 45.

Actually for Jack and Pencil at the top. This discovery was announced several months prior. I believe there was even a mini-series with Morgan Freeman where this was announced. But as all scientific discoveries they have to go through a peer-review process that can take months. Once the peer-review is done they can announce it as a scientific find (that is if enough support the idea/claim/theory). So just because they created this ad a day after doesn't necessarily mean they created it in a day.
Multiple events could have been created for this spot and NASA's announcement was one of mock-ups.... possibly. ;) I'll leave room for my own peer-review on my theory.
"Guest", you must have some insider knowledge the rest of the world isn't party to. The official Nasa announcement was December 2nd, according to Nasa: http://www.nasa.gov/topics/universe/features/astrobiology_toxic_chemic...
I'm going to bet that a detergent company isn't on Nasa's RSS feed of potential breakthroughs on the ElGordo chance they might have something relevant to piggyback a product into the limelight. And certainly they're not going to be on tenterhooks waiting for something on their peer-review list to be complete. I'd say it was an honest case of "Oooh look, that's news. Anyone got an hour spare so we can knock up a hijack?"

Not a bad ad, though it was probably put together in a couple of hours. Not predictable at all and I liked the ending. My only concern is the link between target market and product. How many people really knew about the NASA news? How many women 25-55? I bet if I asked my mom she'd have no idea what I was talking about. But even so, it's neatly explained in the ad, so 7/10.
