The introduction to the advertisement immediately fools viewers into believing they're watching a movie trailer, a clever way to grab their attention. Once in becomes clear what product is being promoted, the ad uses humour rather than any other form of emotional appeal, something that almost all viewers of all demographics can relate to and enjoy. Relative to the topics studies this week, this ad uses puffery at the end stating "movies are better with M&M's." The aim here is to encourage viewers to purchase M&M's when at the movies as they apparently they make movies better. The success of this ad and the statement made is, however, dependant on the viewers and their personal preference to chocolate snacks when at the movies, despite the puffery of the product.
