In the commercial by Labatt Blue, multiple mechanism are used in order to target their audience. As target audience is men, as the majority of consumers who drink beer are male, they use a number of ways to appeal to such men. One way is the use of attractive, female actors. Combining the beer with these women makes the product more attractive to the male audience. Another way is the use of the bear, which brings some humor into the advertisement.
Throughout the ad Labatt makes distinct references to the quality of the materials used in the making of the beer. Fresh water, aromatic hops and quality barely are all included. These show the viewer the great quality of the beer, as the ingredients are of an optimum standard. Quality is very important for a beer company as they try and differentiate themselves from other competitors, especially at the lower end of the market.
