How Many More People Must Die
On February 10, 2015 Russian-backed terrorists shelled the Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk. During this attack, many Ukrainian civilians were killed or severely injured. According to the UN, the war started by Russia in 2014 took lives of more than 10,000 people. It is 2018 now, and the war is still going on but the world starts to forget about it. So, we asked ourselves: What can we do to commemorate lives of the murdered innocent citizens of Ukraine? We chose city of Kramatorsk, because it is one of the cities, scared by war, but now often visited by world celebrities. The Form of Memorial was chosen as a strong massage for current and future generations of Ukrainians, and invited foreign media, so the whole world can see and remember current issues of war in Ukraine.
The How Many More People Must Die memorial is a monument to the horrors of war in eastern Ukraine, started by Russian-backed terrorists in 2014. A memorial in form of glass cube represents fragility of human lives, and a rocket inside cube is a replica of a SMERCH rocket, which hit Kramatorsk in the exact spot in 2015. Sides of cube contain list of fallen civilians during shelling of Kramatorsk, Mariupol and Volnovakha in 2015. We placed this memorial on the date of shelling in Kramatorsk as a present to the city, and as a reminder to the world of horrific war actions during this both shelling episode and whole war itself.
