This commercial is brilliant. The target audience for Cycle Canada is a thrill seeking adventure that takes advantage of opportunities to tackle a challenge. From the fast paced road cycling to the rigid mountain biking, the snapshots of different arenas can entice even a non cycling adrenaline junkie. Leaving the riders out of the video make the audience feel two ways. First, the bikes look almost as if they are wild animals. Having bikes active without the riders increase the risk and ultimately the thrill that is perceived. Second this wild animal perception begs adventurers to tame the bikes. The different cycling arenas dramatically add to the appeal of this commercial. Cycle Canada illustrated the most extreme scenes in cycling and didn't add music or dialogue to the video. Instead they promoted the sound of the gears cranking and the tires hitting the ground. This was perfect for the "hard" atmosphere that Cycle Canada was trying to project.
