Done in Colombia a few years ago with a very different copy. Clever than this one, and with images less obvious.

Cool, we use doors in the uk too! I have seen them in a few places in europe, and also in japan.

Anyone else use doors? (they are normally solid structures on hinges/runners seperating two different spaces)

Yeah, in Poland crisis's reached us already, so we don't use doors as often as we used to. Windows are more popular nowadays. It maybe an inspiration for another Bank of America spot.

creatively, the voice-over reeks of arrogance as well.

Please do NOT tell me BofA actually had to use an ad agency to come up with this most uninspiring piece of copy. It might as well have come from a bored housewife of a marketing manager (on a dish cloth.)

And those vignettes? Oh. My. God. It just goes on and on with the most cliched, mundane stock images a CLIENT would find...

Is this the same BBDO that normally does creatively-charged tv spots? Please say it ain't so...

Actually guys this is a great show of strength. If a bank can afford to advertise through the recession, they know what they're doing. And that's exactly what they're saying with the copy. They keep on moving forward, no matter what. I agree that it could have been shown in a more lateral way and that the VO and copy could be more inspiring... But all in all this is not that bad.

As a US taxpayer AND bedeviled BoA stockholder, part of me is deeply appalled that they spent so much as a dollar on an advertisement. (I find the NYT full-page ads outrageous and yet another sign that management is delusional, but that's a separate topic.) As for "If they can afford to advertise through the recession, they know..." So far, they have "afforded" $55 billion of government money. $55 billion!!!

Marketing should continue, yes, but I can only HOPE they created this rather dull commercial with stock images and computer enhancements, on a very tight budget.

Mighty fine soundtrack to a nicely themed ad. I have 3 emails and a phone call to an
answering machine at Bank of America asking to identify the music. Nothing now in over two weeks. Perhaps that's why I moved my $100,000 deposits to Wachovia a couple years ago, Bank of America: Too big for their own britches.

Hi Ron in NYC - I noticed your comment was dated February 20, 2009, and you have not had any replys. To answer your question - the song is The Contender by the Illusionaries. I too have been looking like mad for the release date of this song. Nothing!!!! I can't figure out why (with the popularity of this song) that they cannot release this very beautiful song. I went to Google and typed in "The Contender by the Illusionaries". I am thinking this would be best place to find out anything about its debut.

Hello, well here it is almost the end of the year 2010, and yet no one has been able to find any information about the music - The Illusionaries - The Contender.

The commercial titled Doors was done by BBDO New York advertising agency for B of A. It was released in February 2009.

I know that there has been much interest in this piece of music for several years, and the promise of the creation of the song has not been done. I'm still waiting.

I really liked the ad. It's much better than the views of people sitting around in meetings doing "business" that you see on most banking ads. In fact, I felt inspired afterward -- that we can get through this.

I agree with the post above. Now is not the time to continue with such negative attitudes. I found the ad inspiring as well. Instead of promoting a specific product to sell they are encouraging all of us to look through open doors. Hmm.... I like it!
