Loathsome. More ad wankers inflating each other's egos.

Self-mocking irony. Have you ever heard of that? A joke with a farting CD would be easier to get, I know.

It's hardly an elevated joke. Rather, it's barely a joke. It's literally the same thought every single one of us has had around the 11th hour or so, when we're whittling away at our sanity. Just boring.

Why resort to attacking someone who has a different sense of humor than you?

Actually you were attacking someone (W+K) who has a different sense of humor than you first.
I agree, this is not a joke. But not only jokes are funny.
I think you must be very negative and hostile not to recognize the obvious intention of these ads to be self-ironic.
Ad people work hard but the point is that our work is not so important to the society than for example a doctor's work.
That is why you can't really take these spot serious - unless you want to overanalyse, misunderstand and critize them so badly.

Er. I gave you a pencil by accident. So, er. Happy holidays.

I'm going to reiterate more clearly: I didn't misunderstand the intention here. (As I said, it's hardly an elevated joke -- in other words, anyone can see the intention.) I'm just bored with advertising talking about itself, as if anyone outside of the industry cared.

It's a subjective opinion. Relax.

"I'm just bored with advertising talking about itself" - are you kidding, right?
This is an advertisement for an ad award show. They wanted ad people to submit their stuff to the competition.
Target audience: advertisers. They just wanted to entertain the industry itself.
Happy holidays!
