I am 23, I can hear the background sound and it is not as deafening as they claim, besides how do they now certain teens haven`t lost ability to hear that frequency earlier than their peers...

Interesting use of media, but not sure if parents will appreciate hurting their kid's ears like this.

They use this technique to keep kids from loitering at convenience stores, too. Good use of technology (unlike that iPHone speedometer SCAM POS) :P

Below 48 Pub, located right nest to a Skytrain station in New Westminster uses 18kHz sound to keep drug dealers away and keep the areas around their pub safe for youth and adults. City of Fairfield, California has also implemented a 18kHz anti-loitering strategy with great success. "The Mosquito can be set to operate only during times when loitering problems typically occur, for example, at night. The Mosquito can also work with a motion sensor, so that the sound is emitted only when motion is detected. The device can also be turned on with a remote control or a cell phone," says Michael Gibson.

So I think it works.

Interesting. I can hear it, doesn't really dissuade me from listening though, not for 15 or 30 seconds.

Love it. You should patent it!

Think they use this to keep youths out of the Metro in Paris. Disgusting technique.

I'm 31 and I can hear it very well. Very annoying. Instant failure.

when it comes to the use of media, for me it's suspiciously somewhat similar to Naturia Dog Food: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3e8sefZk8FA

Sorry, but I don't think this childproof commercial is nearly as good as this app.
