Sounds German

Agency: Philipp und Keuntje

Description

2019 Clio Juror: Robert Müller
In these spots, we hear a man speaking what appears to be German. We hear that the vowel sounds and the word meanings are recognisably German yet something about the voice over’s accent and pronunciation doesn’t quite feel 100 % convincing. Through out the spots, listeners are kept guessing as to whether the voice over is actually German until the very end when the announcer finally reveals, ‘Just cause this sounds German, doesn’t mean it is’ thereby confirming that it wasn’t German after all but in fact, a complete nonsensical and cheap imitation of the technical German language. After all, you might be able to copy German engineering but it’ll never be as good as authentic and original Audi engineering.
