it's def a nice scam ad and i doubt there was even a brief.
this 'ad' is for an art supplies shop in malaysia called penline. u can just make out the name in the tape roll. only art/graphic students and ppl in the ad/design biz know this shop...well...give or take a few members of the public who accidentally stumble onto it.
so...i think it only appeals to a very small group of ppl ie ppl in advertising. the general public won't even know what the ad is selling/saying. some of u even think it's for an adhesive tape?
but it did win a silver at cannes...so it MUST be great.
it works.

Advertising pass, pasta remain...
Been done a million times, in TV spots, outdoor, etc, etc.
This is nothing new, but I have to say it works.
they could have just used one piece on the top in the middle. now that is strong.
why? you can recognize it if it's four pieces, but not if it's just one? i don't understand.
hehehe...i loved it! the idea works for sure..
~ old habits die hard, older ones never do ~
Chints is happy. The product packshot is giant. :)
Nice, but ellechimeo have a point to say that one tape on the middle shows strenght.
your name is icaro doria, don´t lie

is there life before death?
i like it.
Perhaps its not a superior idea but its better than 90% of all the other ads.
Yes good. Gets my signature in the traffic manager's box.

it's simple, and product benefit is clear. but there ain't no surprise.
you're left wishing the ad rewarded you.
good try, but you know.....

One idea or the other, boys. Not both.
Don't worry! They'll get it.
Faaaaar prefer the taped corners execution.
>>>> That's not an ad. THIS is an ad.
Customer goes "oh that's clever" and then moves on and forgets about it.
... until he parks, hops out to buy something, comes back and finds his car and a whole row of nearby cars... taped to the road.
good enough isn't good enough
>>>> That's not an ad. THIS is an ad.
this is a very creative outdoor ad and i'm proud to be malaysian...soo damn creative
If they taped the crack or corners of the building, that would've been more brilliant.... This? BORING!

Trying to retire ad-man
I would like to see the KenWood sign changed to a tape dispencer and have say a none discript car taped to the wall with the tag "good car". Sort of like a giant child has made a crappy ad for a car useing the tape on the side of the building.
