I’m assuming that the majority of people enjoy popcorn. Orville is one of the better brands of popcorn that I’ve tasted so I’m a fan. The problem with this advert is that this commercial is being a bit arrogant and treating the viewers as if they’re idiots. The commercial makes the claim that “popcorn makes movies better.” To illustrate this claim, they gave half the movie theater patrons Orville popcorn and the other half didn’t get any. But the side that didn’t get any was in the same exact room as the people that had some! Of course there will be jealousy if someone else was eating ANY snack that you like right in front of you and you couldn’t have any. This didn’t have to be Orville popcorn, it could have been sour patch kids or a cup of soda. I couldn’t take this advert seriously after seeing this “experiment.” If they really wanted to prove a point, they could have had one group of movie goers eat popcorn if they wanted to and then another group watch the same exact movie without popcorn regardless of their desire for popcorn and then ask both groups to rate the movie. That would have been a more legitimate way to try and prove that claim. Yes, we all know that Orville makes above average popcorn. Good for Orville… but when you try to be smooth with such a ridiculous experiment without making it obvious that it’s only a joke, that’s when I start losing favor with the company.
