Description
This is the true story of Tyler McGregor, a once-elite OHL prospect whose dream of playing professional hockey ended the day cancer took his leg. His story starts the day Tyler was supposed to be drafted: April 10, 2010. It’s told through his very first walk post-surgery, each step down the hospital hall triggering memories. As he moves forward on crutches, he confronts the moments that shaped him: the player he once was, the diagnosis that changed everything, and the painful fight to begin again.
But with every step, a new future comes into focus. Tyler sees not just his past, but the version of himself who discovers sledge hockey, stumbles, rises, and ultimately, captains Team Canada. His walk ends in the tunnel at Milano Cortina 2026, present day Tyler on the ice, face-to-face with his 15-year-old self who thought his dream was gone. It’s in that moment that both his past and present self understand that they’ll not only reach their dream, but exceed it. Because Tyler didn’t just rebuild his dream, he built a greater one.
