In 2021, nearly half of the world's population was at risk of malaria, with four African countries accounting for just over half of all malaria deaths worldwide: Nigeria (31.3%), DR Congo (12.6%), Tanzania (4.1%) and Niger (3.9%).

However, malaria doesn’t just happen. It is spread by mosquitoes which are naturally attracted to places that allow them to breed easily - dirty environments.
Intentionally or not, what you and I are really doing by our actions
and inactions is giving mosquitoes a very warm, cozy environment to breed.
In other words, we are simply taking care of mosquitoes like pets and domesticating them.
For World Malaria Day 2024, the Mortein brand wanted to highlight this common behaviour of Nigerians, where we are making mosquitoes comfortable by not keeping our environment clean.
