The festival of playing cards

School: The Higher Institute Of Applied Arts

Description

Concept & Narrative:
The artwork visualizes a mysterious world where playing cards are more than just a game—they represent a clandestine and "forbidden" society. The design aims to capture the tension between elegance and secrecy.
Why these elements were chosen:
The Queen: The female figure was chosen to embody a literal element of the deck—the Queen of Diamonds. By personifying the card, she becomes a living character that bridges the gap between the game and reality, acting as the face of this mysterious festival.
Color Symbolism: The dominant Purple palette was intentionally selected for its dual meaning. It represents Grandeur and Royalty (Greatness), reflecting the high stakes of the game, while its misty, dark tones evoke a deep sense of Mystery and Secrecy, suggesting that this "Festival" is a hidden, prohibited event.
The "Forbidden" Atmosphere: Every detail, from the gothic veil to the castle silhouettes in the background, reinforces the idea that this game is played in the shadows, away from the public eye.
Technical Execution:
Composition: A complex photo manipulation where the subject breaks the "physical" card boundary, creating a surreal 3D effect.
Mood: Created through custom color grading and atmospheric textures to enhance the "Dark Fantasy" aesthetic.
Software: Adobe Photoshop.
