When McKinney was tasked with creating a product video for Corian Design’s new product line, Corian® Solid Surface (think countertops, walls, etc.), we could have taken a straightforward, by-the-playbook approach, utilizing B-roll footage with product demos. But we wanted to find a playful, unexpected solution that exceeded expectations.
Playing off the visual trope of whiteboard infographic videos, we instead used the actual surface as a canvas. The hyperlapse video was shot using a high-speed robotic camera arm that followed an artist not only drawing with a marker but staining, scratching, and painting a cityscape consisting of a café, hotel, school, and hospital, using materials native to those environments themselves.
