Futures Without Violence will place a pop-up stunt bookstore in NYC. The bookstore will offer books featuring either relationship violence or men being violent toward women. The catch: every book will erase traces of the male characters and all their lines, so only the women’s part of the story can be read. On the back of the book, there will be a description of the reasoning behind the pop-up bookstore, as well as a call to speak up to prevent the silence.

utures Without Violence will hold a pop-up stunt concert in Central Park. The set list will be filled with male-female duets that touch on toxic relationships or relationship violence. When the cover singers perform, the male singer will not sing his part. The audience will hear how much the song changes when the male is silenced, bringing to life a metaphor for how the story changes (regarding relationship violence) when the woman is silenced.

Description

Problem: Raise awareness that accepting the belief that boys will be boys is harmful to your daughters, mothers, wives, grandmas, female friends, and other females.
Insight: Women’s stories are often silenced by a man’s story of what happened
Solution: Make women’s stories louder by removing the abusers.
